Dr. Staunton was raised in Glenview by his parents Thomas and Catherine along with his four brothers, Tom, Sean, Mike, and Steve. He graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1986. He attended the University of Illinois for his undergraduate studies and graduated from the Veterinary School in 1994. Since graduating veterinary school, Dr. Staunton has worked in the far north and northwestern Chicago suburbs. He is a member of the Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association, the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Veterinary Medical Association. He returns to the Niles area with an extensive knowledge of dog and cat surgery/medicine as well as a love for a wide variety of small mammals like guinea pigs, ferrets, rabbits and hamsters.
Dr. Staunton is also an accomplished surgeon. He routinely performs a wide variety of orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries such as Arthrex Vet System TightRope for anterior cruciate ligament repair, patellar luxation repair, stenotic nares and elongated soft palate resections of Brachycephalic breeds, canine and feline urethrostomies, enterotomies, foreign body surgery, and splenectomies, to name a few. He is certified to perform veterinary stem cell regenerative therapy and performs echocardiograms and abdominal ultrasounds. He is also certified in therapeutic laser therapy and diode laser surgery.
Dr. Staunton is married with two children. He has many pets, Mabel the Beagle dog, Sallie the cat, Charlie the Quaker parrot, and Derp the Bearded Dragon. Dr. Staunton enjoys SCUBA diving, muskie fishing, spending quality time with his family, listening to the blues, and traveling to the Caribbean.
